Animation

Animation

We were asked by the client to take their Autodesk Inventor files, concept sketches and equipment photographs and place them in a 3D virtual world.  They needed to show their client how their installation concept would work.

Their budget was limited and the date was fixed with engineering development continuing almost up until presentation day.  So it was a case of defining what we could at an early stage but being flexible right to the end, thus ensuring that the whole concept was accurately portrayed.

The fist stage was the most vital, the preparation of the Script and Storyboard.  Getting this right is so important since it prevents costly reworking at a later stage.

With the Script and Storyboard approve it was then time to prepare the Design Detail.  This involved the creation of Matte Paintings for the backgrounds, overlays and textures and agreeing the design of any models that we need to create to support those provided by the Client.

In a typical animation project a Cameramatic or Rough Animation would have been produced but time was short and the changes to the original engineering concept were happening thick and fast.  So it was straight to the final animation.  Which made life interesting, but the Client had the animation ready in time for the presentation in Norway.

The installation concept is commercially sensitive so the attached video file only shows a small element that of the project which that was later abandoned on "the cutting room floor".
